Master OFF?

Gust lock installed?
Strong winds can damage unlocked control surfaces.
Sun shade installed?
Not only do sunshades keep the cockpit cooler for the next student, they also help extend the life of the avionics. Did you know that a typical panel upgrade for a Cessna 172 is $25,000-$40,000?

Date, name, and Hobbs time legibly recorded in aircraft binder?
If the tenths on the Hobbs meter is between two numbers, always round up.

Seatbelts locked across seat?
Aircraft parked correctly?
Do NOT move the aircraft without assistance from your instructor. They will help you park on the yellow designated parking marks if outside.
Personal items and trash removed?
Your trash is not someone else’s treasure. Your nearly new set of Rayban’s might be a different story though.
Pitot cover installed?
South Texas has many little insects that love to hide inside a pitot tubes and cause problems. What are the signs of a clogged or iced up pitot static system?
Parking brake set? (if outside only)
BOTH doors locked? (if outside only)
Did you know an experienced thief can steal $10,000 worth of avionics in under 1 minute? PLEASE lock the doors!
Keys returned to aircraft binder?
Aren’t you glad the student before you returned them and your flight lesson wasn’t delayed?
Aircraft chocked? (if outside only)
Crutial in case of paking brake failure.
Final walk-around complete?
Look at the big picture. Do you see anything out of place?

Any squawks to report?
